Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Your local domestic violence agency is
the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center: 723-3057. The services provided include an
emergency safe home, a 24 hour help line, court advocacy, community outreach, elder
advocacy, support groups, children's programs and prevention through public awareness
and education. A cell phone drive is one of the activities being held throughout October to support the work of the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center. You can help by donating your old cell phones! They are being collected at the Central Falls Police Department, Cumberland
Police Department, and at local post offices. There are many other ways that community members can help, such as: Including information regarding Domestic Violence Awareness Month in your agency bulletin; Distributing brochures and information regarding available services; Inviting a guest speaker from our agency to conduct a work shop on this topic. If you want to learn about other ways you can get involved with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please contact Cindi Coburn or Nicole Crossett at 723-3057 or click on upcoming events on our website: www.bvadvocacycenter.org
